It all started 12 years ago this week. My brother, Houston was coordinating a mock crucifixion scene for Camp Kadesh at Abilene Christian University. He asked Wade to portray one of the criminals who would hang on either side of “Jesus.” I was part of the angry crowd who yelled, “Crucify him! Crucify him!” In the late afternoon, all the actors drove to a hill outside Abilene to reenact the crucifixion scene for a group of high school campers. It was a moving experience for everyone involved, especially for me. Not only did I get to participate in a portrayal of the most important day in the history of the world, but I also noticed for the first time the man who would become my husband - one of the criminals on the cross. We had our first date two days later and four months later we were married. The significance that our relationship began at the foot of the cross has not escaped our notice. We want above all things for our relationship to reflect the grace, love and sacrifice of our Savior. It has been an incredible 12 years full of joy, laughter, pain, tears, renegotiation, forgiveness, and love. Thanks Wade for the adventure that is our life. I love you.

Wade as one of the criminals, I’m in the top right corner.

This is the second year my family has bought season passes to Big Splash. It’s pretty much the only show in town, so they can afford to have dirty bathrooms, dilapidated and outdated facility and unsafe rides. People still line up to get in, even when it is storming. They have a string of safety violations, and a drowning several years ago not to mention last year’s notorious catastrophe when a slide collapsed and an 11 year old girl fell from the Master Blaster.
We’ve all been wondering why the large slide tower has been closed this season, well it’s not because of the storms. It’s because of the rotted beams that failed the safety inspection.
Here is a recent article about the park from News on 6.
I don’t know about you, but I want my money back.

On my quest to eliminate high fructose corn syrup from my diet I’ve had to completely revamp my drink menu. I’ve cut out the nectar of the gods, the ambrosia of Texas - Dr. Pepper. I’ve been hopelessly addicted to the stuff for years, so I have tried to find alternate drinks to help maintain my DP abstinence.
Of course I never go anywhere without my water bottle, but a girl likes a little flavor sometimes too. While I was out with the kids yesterday we drove through one of our favorite restaurants Chick-fil-A. I was a little hesitant to drive through because the line was at least 12 cars long. But in Chick-fil-A fashion they had several employees outside taking orders from car windows. This sped things up tremendously and we had our food in under 3 minutes!!! Great service.
I ordered their famous lemonade with my meal, but I was a little unsure of the sweetener they use in it. If Chick-fil-A was to follow the crowd and take the economical route they would probably use corn syrup in their recipe. I would never know unless I asked, so I did. The recipe is water, lemons, and REAL SUGAR!!!! Outside of grocery stores, Chick-fil-A is the largest purchaser of fresh lemons in the U.S., they squeeze 71 million lemons every year. A large glass of lemonade at Chick-fil-A gives you 35% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin C and uses real sugar (the diet version uses Splenda.) On top of all that drinking real lemonade helps keep kidney stones at bay and you can buy it by the gallon.
So chalk one up for Chick-fil-A.

My favorite Chick-fil-A meal, a #5 with a lemonade.
